Introduction

The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences conducts a six-year undergraduate educational programme leading to the degree of ‘Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery’, MBBS (USIM) to its successful candidates. Basically, the program is divided into two equal phases, namely, pre-clinical and clinical phases with Islamic input integrated throughout the six-year program. The courses are designed to help students develop the requisite knowledge base and rationale they will need for clinical patient care.

Duration

The Medical Program of the faculty spans over a period of 6 years. The majority of the students will be from Pusat Tamhidi USIM, which conducts a one-year Medical Matriculation program. The academic session in each year is divided into two semesters. There are 15 weeks of academic session in each semester in year 1 and year 2 and 16 weeks per semester in year 3.The duration of each semester in the clinical phase (year 4,5 and 6) depends on the duration of the postings.

Memiliki Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) dengan mendapat kepujian dalam mata pelajaran Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia dan lulus dalam mata pelajaran Sejarah mulai tahun 2013. Kepujian Bahasa Malaysia/Bahasa Melayu kertas julai diambil kira;

Lulus Peperiksaan Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) dengan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya PNGK 2.00 dengan GRED C dalam 3 mata pelajaran termasuk Pengajian Am;

MUET
Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Band 1.0 dalam Malaysian University English Test (MUET) untuk peperiksaan yang bermula Sesi 1 tahun 2021 atau Band 1 untuk peperiksaan sehingga tahun 2020 mengikut tempoh sah laku pada tarikh permohonan.

SPM
Memiliki Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) dengan mendapat kepujian dalam mata pelajaran Bahasa Malaysia/ Bahasa Melayu dan lulus dalam mata pelajaran Sejarah mulai tahun 2013. Kepujian Bahasa Malaysia/ Bahasa Melayu kertas Julai diambil kira;

DAN

MATRIKULASI
Lulus Matrikulasi KPM/ Asasi UA dengan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya PNGK 2.00;;

DAN

MUET
Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Band 1.0 dalam Malaysian University English Test (MUET) untuk peperiksaan yang bermula Sesi 1 tahun 2021 atau Band 1 untuk peperiksaan sehingga tahun 2020 mengikut tempoh sah laku pada tarikh permohonan.

(1) Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya PNGK 3.50 dan ke atas pada peringkat Matrikulasi/ Asasi

dan

(2) Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred B (NGMP 3.00) pada peringkat Matrikulasi/ Asasi dalam mata pelajaran berikut:

  • Biology;
  • Chemistry;
  • Pyhsics/ Mathematics (M)/ Mathematics (T)

dan

(3) Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred B pada peringkat SPM dalam mata pelajaran berikut:

  • Biologi
  • Kimia
  • Fizik
  • Matematik atau Matematik Tambahan
  • Bahasa Inggeris

(4) Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred C pada peringkat SPM dalam mata pelajaran berikut:

  • Bahasa Arab/ Bahasa Arab Tinggi/ Bahasa Arab Komunikasi/ Al-Lughah Al-Arabiah Al-Mu’asirah/ Turath Bahasa Arab/ Al-Adab Wa Al-Balaghah

(7) Lulus tapisan temuduga

dan

(8) Semua pemohon hendaklah mengisytiharkan jika mereka telah didapati:

  • bersalah dalam kesalahan jenayah;
  • mempunyai penyakit fizikal atau penyakit jiwa yang serius; dan/atau
  • penyakit berjangkit yang serius yang mungkin memberi impak terhadap amalan perubatan mereka akan datang

dan

(9) Seseorang yang mempunyai salah satu daripada yang berikut tidak layak mengikuti program perubatan:

  • didapati bersalah dalam kesalahan melibatkan tubuh manusia;
  • tidak amanah sama ada serius atau baharu, contohnya menipu semasa peperiksaan, pemalsuan dokumen, plagiarisme;
  • penyakit fizikal atau mental yang serius;
  • penyakit berjangkit yang serius

 

Kegagalan mengisytiharkan maklumat yang mempunyai pengaruh terhadap kesesuaian pelajar dalam amalan perubatan mungkin menyebabkan mereka diberhentikan dari meneruskan pengajian. Kejujuran, integriti dan kesihatan yang baik adalah ciri yang penting bagi seorang doktor dan pelajar perubatan.

  1. Senior High School / Senior Secondary School / other equivalent pre-university examinations from government schools (with the period of at least 11 to 12 years of study from primary to higher secondary); OR
  2. General Certificates of Education (GCE) ‘A’ Level / Diploma in related fields or other equivalent pre-university examinations; OR
  3. Any other certificate that is recognized by the senate of the university as equivalent to the above; AND
  4. Specific entry requirements based on programmes; AND
  5. Credit in one (1) Islamic Studies subject at O Level / A Level / equivalent; AND

  2. A person with any of the following would be disqualified from entry into a medical programme:

    • Serious physical or mental illness; and/or
    • Serious communicable disease(s).
  3. Any failure to declare information that has a material influence on a student’s fitness to practice may lead to the termination of their medical course, as honesty, integrity and good health are essential attributes of a doctor and by extension, the medical student.

  3. The University will not process any application for any immigration document if the international student was found to be infected with any disease mentioned in paragraph 1 after the health examination and he/she shall be directed to leave the country as soon as possible at his/her own cost.
  4. If the international student failed to leave the country, the University reserves the right to surrender him/her to the Malaysian Immigration Department for deportation.
