The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FPSK) was established on 1 June 2004 and began operations with the recruitment of 29 medical students in 2005. The first group of students began their studies on 1 July 2005. Currently, more than 500 undergraduate and postgraduate students are being trained at FPSK, USIM. The faculty has also been fully recognised by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC).

Unlike other USIM faculties that relocated to Nilai, Negeri Sembilan in December 2005, the FPSK remained in Kuala Lumpur. To this day, the Kuala Lumpur branch is used to accommodate students undergoing clinical training at a nearby hospital, Ampang Hospital. In October 2020, the FPSK has moved to Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, close to the main campus of USIM. The relocation of the FPSK from Pandan Indah Campus to Nilai began in 2008 when a 62-hectare plot of land was approved. Construction work began in October 2016 after allocations under the 11th Malaysia Plan were approved. In August 2020, the FPSK building in Nilai was completed. The handover took place on 14 September 2020 and operations began on 1 October 2020.
