On March 9th, the inaugural iMicrobe2024 Medical Microbiology quiz took place, drawing in over 116 participants from 29 universities across Malaysia and 3 international institutions. Organized by enthusiastic year 3 medical students under the guidance of FPSK’s Microbiology lecturers, the Intervarsity event saw a strong showing from both domestic and international medical schools.
The competition tested the participants’ knowledge of medical microbiology through a series of challenging rounds. The first two rounds consisted of Kahoot quizzes, requiring quick thinking and recall of key concepts. Following these rounds, a challenging “explorace” further whittled down the competition, selecting the top teams to advance to the final viva round.
In a thrilling finale, National University of Singapore emerged victorious, clinching the iMicrobe2024 championship title. Universiti Malaya and Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia followed closely behind, securing second and third place respectively.
The iMicrobe2024 Medical Microbiology quiz proved to be a successful platform for medical students across Malaysia and the region to test their knowledge and engage in friendly competition. The event’s organizers, the year 3 medical students and FPSK’s Microbiology lecturers, deserve recognition for their efforts in putting together this inaugural event.
