MASTER OF MEDICAL SCIENCE (MMedSc) PROGRAMME (MIX MODE)
Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences(FPSK), Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) offers a Master of Medical Science Programme through mixed mode. The main objective of the Master of Medical Science Programme is to produce graduate with deep knowledge and research skills in medical sciences. Graduates should in the end acquire high research skills with excellent knowledge in order to pursue careers in public or private educational institution as researcher of academician.
BASIC REQUIREMENT FOR MASTER OF MEDICAL SCIENCE (MMedSc) PROGRAMME (MIX MODE)
Local and international applicants for this Master of Medical Science (MMedSc) programme (Mix Mode – 30:70) must have at least one of the requirements as stated below:
- The degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.D. or MBBS) or any equivalent medical qualification as approved by the Senate with a minimum CGPA of 2.75; OR
- The degree of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) or any equivalent dentistry qualification as approved by the Senate with a minimum CGPA of 2.75; OR
- The degree of Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine or any equivalent qualification as approved by the Senate with a minimum CGPA of 2.75; OR
- The degree of Bachelor of Science with Honours with a CGPA of 3.0 and above in a related field from any higher learning institution as approved by the Senate; OR
- The degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.D. or MBBS), Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine, Bachelor of Science with Honours or any equivalent qualification in related fields as approved by the Senate with a minimum CGPA of less than 3.00 but more than 2.50 subject to evaluation by the Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia; OR
- Other qualifications in related fields equivalent to a bachelor degree with honours with good grades or Jayyid or a CGPA of 3.00/5.00 and above or 60% marks for other qualifications approved by the Senate or a CGPA of 2.75/4.00 and above subject to terms under the International Academic Grade Guide for USIM; OR
- Other qualifications equivalent to a bachelor degree in related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 as approved by USIM’s Senate; OR
- Bachelor’s Degree with a CGPA below 2.50 may be admitted but is required to possess a minimum of 10 years work experience in related field.
REGULATION FOR LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT FOR MASTER OF MEDICAL SCIENCE (MMedSc) PROGRAMME (MIX MODE)
Applicants are also required to fulfill the language requirement as follows:
- English requirements: It is compulsory for all applicants of the Master of Medical Science to obtain a minimum score of 510 (paper-based) in TOEFL or 64 (internet-based) in TOEFL or a minimum score of 5.0 in IELTS or a minimum of Band 3 in MUET or any other equivalent evaluations as approved by the Senate.
- Arabic requirements: Applicants are required to possess a satisfactory proficiency in the Arabic language and must provide evidence or validation of their proficiency along with their application forms. A language test, namely the Arabic Placement Test will be held after the applicant has registered. Applicants who have yet to fulfill the language requirement must register for an Arabic language course and pass the course within their duration of study. The Arabic language course only serves as a pre-requisite and will not be taken in when determining a student’s academic grade.
