(5th April 2023) In an effort to reach out to the Mengabang Telipot community of Kuala Nerus Terengganu, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) together with Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) and Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) joined academic expertise by implementing the University Together Community Program – Jom Carre Fishing Community on 17 February 2023 recently.
The Opening Ceremony was officiated by Dato’ Prof. Dr. Husaini Omar, Director General of Higher Education. In the same ceremony, a Letter of Intent exchange session was held between UMT – USIM – UniSZA as a symbolic sign of the cooperation of the three universities in organizing programs in the form of knowledge transfer and community.
USIM Vice Chancellor Prof. Dato’ Dr. Sharifudin Md Shaarani said, among the objectives of organizing this program is to improve knowledge, skills and noble values through a series of knowledge sharing between universities involved with the local community through sports activities, exhibitions and health checks. At the same time, they can get to know UMT, USIM and UniSZA more closely and strengthen the relationship between universities, agencies, industry and the community.
“We would like to thank all parties for their involvement, especially our strategic partners who have also supported such as the Malaysian Fish Development Board, Pharmaniaga, University Multimedia, the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, the North Terengganu Area Fishermen’s Association (PNK), the Area Fishermen’s Association (PNK) ) Setiu, Mengabang Telipot Malay Fisherman’s Cooperative and Mengabang Telipot Mosque Committee Member and Village Development and Security Committee (JPKK) – Kg. Banggol Telipot, Kg. School Gong, Kg. Mengabang Telong, Kg. Tanjong Gelam, Kg. Central and Kg. Waqf Tengah”, he said again.
Meanwhile, the Program Director representing USIM Associate Prof. Dr. Nuruliza Roslan said that various forms of knowledge transfer activities as well as the implementation of social activities were carried out, including health checks, university exhibition corners, fishing talks, student motivational talks and sports.
